Another great morning for outdoor exercise! We started with a jog (no logs) and then got
into the three kings.

They are:

I am surprised you didn’t hear the collective moans from wherever it is you were sleeping because their wasn’t a lot of early enthusiasm for the three kings.

I thought there was going to be a revolt at one point when the logs were to be carried for another lap of ‘recovery’. But everyone finished with smiles on their faces.

The fitness recruits worked their way into things and got through a lot of work today. The legs (and arms) will likely feel it tomorrow, but already you can see strength and fitness gains.

We expect more back on board on Thursday for our next cardio session.

Till then

It started with a nice jog of about 1.5km before getting in to the LAP!

The lap is about 400m and takes anywhere from 1-2 minutes depending on your speed.

The Fitness recruits did 5 ‘work’ laps as well as a warm up to see the course.

Effort was rewarded with rest.

It was interesting to see the various tactics employed with the most wylie competiors holding a little back till the final round before showing their hand.

Following on from this we hand smaller laps while carrying, lifting, flipping or dragging various implements.

A fianl lap to finish and Glory was in the history books.

Another honest session helping our recruits along their journey.

Till next week

Tora in Japanese means Tiger, and we tried to incorporate some Japanese stylings into our day.

We started off with a good jog to warm up and hit the Sumo squats and Sumo high pulls hard with our trustee logs.

The crane position from the Karate Kid tested our balance before walk lunges and karate kicks sapped our legs even further.

“The Eye of the Tiger’ was bought out with great effect during 60 second punching bouts.

Finally we did some sprint relays using the logs to really test our condition.

A good honest session that will help the legs to develop.

Our first cardio day is called ‘Platoon’ and it certainly tried to sort the tough ones out.

After a warm up we were in to the shuttles… enough shuttles to make our recruits think they were Apollo Astronauts – complete with the light head and dizzy feelings.

I am pleased tosay that everyone did very well, and even had some speed left to finish with a couple of relays and the obligatory lap with log.

The first week is often the toughest and our recruits will be glad to know that some of the hardest work has been done.

Until next Tuesday of course

We had a good turn out this morning, and a bright blue day to help get our recruits under way. I was worried it was going to be windy and rainy, but mother nature was good to us… fo now

A nice easy jog to get the bodies moving followed by an introduction to the LOGS.

“say hello to my little friend!”

I read the Fitness Recruit creed to all of our recruits – I’m sure they thought OMG what have I got myself into… my best friend..what ever!

Below is the creed:

“This is my log. There are many like it but this one is mine. My log is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. Without me, my log is useless. Without my log I am useless. I must carry my log true. I must be stronger than I have been in the past. I must work hard. I will. Before you I swear this creed: my log and myself are defenders of my body, we are the masters of our enemy, we are the saviours of my life. So be it, until there is no pain.”

Tuesdays are strength days and we hit Squats, Split squats, Press ups, Thrusters, Clean and jerk, Standing twists, Shoulder presses, and Sumo high pulls pretty hard with the logs holding up to the battering well… we will see how the recruits shape up.

The final jog was one of the toughest parts of the day having to carry the log for the full 800m.

I was really impressed with how the recruits handled things – it was a tough day and they took to it well.

Bring on Thursday our first cardio session aptly titled Platoon.

We are hoping for more numbers on Thursday, and are sure that once the word gets out our recuit roster will keep rising

Hard Logs.
